Dear Dr. Solution,
Please tell me that this is not true. Please tell me that I am dreaming. That my boyfriend is not in love with my aunty, my late mother’s younger sister; please tell me that I am not thinking well. He travelled from the States to come and engage me. As tradition demands, I decided to introduce him to my maternal relatives. Suffice it to say, the meeting went well. The following night my aunt called him while we were together. His behavior was suspicious, but I did not think much of it. Three days later he informed me that he was traveling to Makeni to see his relatives. While waiting for transportation around Kissy Shell, I saw his car parked. I walked over to see if that was actually him, to my uttermost surprise my aunt was accompanying him to Makeni. I asked him what was going on. He refused to talk with me, he said he will call me when he return. An hour after the incident he called to inform me that the engagement was off because I “don’t know how to behave in public”. Is my aunt in love with my boyfriend or what is going on?
Sia,
Kissy Shell
Dear Sia,
Please wake up from your slumber. The writing is on the wall and it is very visible for all to see. I am reminded off the Krio proverb that says “look under you foot”. They say life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. You are the artist of your own life, don’t hand the paintbrush to anyone else. Both of them are losers, let them go. Turn a new page, not every day is good, but there is something good in everyday, you now know them for who they are, be thankful for that. Two things you are in total control of in your life are your attitude and your effort, please get to work and rebrand yourself.
